A win!

Another win for me this week, pushing me to 7-3. Both of the 3-6 teams in my division are trailing but their games aren't over. If they both lose, I'll clinch the division. The other two division leaders started the week 7-2 and played each other. I play the one that seems likely to lose the game. The top two division winners get a bye for the first week of the playoffs. It looks as though winning out would guarantee me that bye.

QB: Tyler Thigpen, KC put up 3 TDs for 35 points. He did miss on the two-point conversion that would have won the game for the Chiefs, but his big performance essentially cemented the win for me. Trent Edwards, Buf had a poor game and put up just 8 points. That's two rough games in a row and he really hasn't been all that good since returning from his concussion. To beat the big boys, I'm going to need two QBs. I can't rely on Hasselbeck returning, so I'm really hoping to see a good game from Edwards next week against the Browns. JaMarcus Russell, Oak and Matt Hasselbeck, Sea both didn't play due to injury. My opponent got 14 from Brett Favre, NYJ and -1 from Marc Bulger, StL. He didn't have Matt Schaub, Hou, who is injured.

RB: Marion Barber, Dal was on bye. Adrian Peterson, Min came through big with 224 combined yards and a TD for 29 points. I was really uncertain who to play to replace Barber among the other four. I went with BenJarvus Green-Ellis, NE over Kevin Faulk, NE, with Chester Taylor, Min my third choice and Fred Taylor, Jax fourth. Well, Fred Taylor had 80 yards rushing, 17 receiving and scored 9. Chester Taylor had a long TD catch and scored 19 in a game that seems like the Vikings should have won more handily than they did (they gave up an interception return for a TD and a punt return for a TD to keep the Packers in the game). Kevin Faulk scored 0, so I'm really glad I kept him out. Green-Ellis actually ran for 105 and a TD and scored 16, so that worked out really well for me. However, my 45 points from the RBs was drubbed by the opponent who got 32 from Thomas Jones, NYJ and 22 from Brandon Jacobs, NYG. In a way, him having Jones and Favre probably limited his upside. He didn't play Willis McGahee, Bal, who scored 23.

WR: I knew I was going to play Marques Colston, NO but couldn't decide between Matt Jones, Jax and Lance Moore, NO. Colston caught 7 for 140 for 17 points. I ended up playing Jones and he scored 8 before leaving with a (I believe, anyway) minor injury that wasn't worth playing through in a game the Jaguars were winning handily. Lance Moore caught a garbage time TD to end up with 16 points, so this one I got wrong. Still, I'll gladly take 8 points from a WR. Many of my other guys didn't play due to bye or injury. Devin Hester, Chi put up 7 and Marvin Harrison, Ind scored 4 and may have left the game with an injury. He would have to have a really good game before I'd even consider playing him again and I'm almost ready to drop him. I'd probably drop Hester first, though. My opponent got 14 from Roddy White, Atl and 6 from Donald Driver, GB. I'm always really excited to win at WR.

TE: Owen Daniels, Hou, scored just 1 on one catch for 13 yards. I'll probably try to pick up another TE to play until Matt Schaub comes back. However, I did notice that one of Sage Rosenfels interceptions was a pass to Daniels in the end zone. An extra seven points would have me feeling very differently about this. My opponent got 0 from Chris Baker, NYJ. He had Jason Witten, Dal on bye. I think I lost more with not having Barber than he did in the Cowboys having a bye, so I'm not going to feel bad about this.

PK: I got this one wrong also. I played John Kasay, Car who scored 4 as the Panthers did not roll over Oakland as expected. I could have had 7 from Stephen Gostkowski, NE. I will probably go with Gostkowski the rest of the way. My opponent got 9 from Jeff Reed, Pit.

TM: The Titans continue to be solid, but I probably ought to look into giving myself another option. They scored 9 and had a dropped interception that probably would have been a TD and another 8 points. My opponent got -3 from the Eagles going against the Giants and Brandon Jacobs.

I put up 127 and I've got to feel good about that. It'll probably end up as the second or third highest score of the week. I've had two straight good weeks and might just be peaking as the playoffs approach. I do have a tough opponent next week and my guys seem to have some tough match ups. Still, I may already have clinched the division and hence a seed of at least 3.
